Misuse of Credit Cards
For some people, the chances they take on their credit cards are just that. A recent survey, which was based on more than 2000 UK adults, shows that if the results applied to the whole of the UK, then around a million people are spending between £50 and £150 per month on betting. The easy access to on-line gambling is tempting people into debt and the number of gamblers taking this route have doubled, compared to those who visit the local betting shop.
12% of those surveyed admitted they were using credit to fund their habit. They used a mixture of credit cards, overdrafts and personal loans. Some 8% were relying on life savings. A third of the people surveyed said they gambled around once a month, with an average bet of £21. Many people bet much larger sums.
From £2 a week spent on the National Lottery, through to complicated "roll-up" bets on the racing - it's all gambling. Hopefully the biggest gamble you'll get involved in is the right choice of card. If not - good luck.
